About Me

On May 24, 2015 after much haranguing on what to do about the way I looked, the way I felt, I decided to follow a coach, Lindsey Bailey, at Beach Body. She advised me to start with a program called 21 Day Fix. When I started the program, I could not do the routines without sitting down in between them to rest. Now I am 50 lbs. lighter and I have progressed to more difficult programs. I have done Hammer and Chisel, 22 Minute Hard Core, and Body Beast. Some of them I really enjoyed and some not so much, but I did them. I feel 100% better than ever and so much stronger. Along with the exercise programs, I had to learn to eat healthy. I had been addicted to junk food. It was not unusual for me to have potato chips and ice cream for supper. Yes, it is true!! Shakeology from Beach Body helped me with my cravings. I rarely crave those unhealthy foods. I love eating clean! This is NOT A DIET, this is a lifestyle. I didn't feel deprived of any food. It was a big change for sure. But it is so worth it!

Babies Left All Alone!

Poor Bentley, he was left at home most of the day today. Well, Alex was here, but he doesn't count as far as the animals are concerned. He likes Phillip, his cat, and she is about as elusive as he is. I guess that is why they get along so well. Anyway, back to Bentley. I think when I am gone he lays on the couch and sleeps with one eye open so he can keep a close watch out the window. Today is Dorcas Class (our ladies class at church) so I work about an hour and a half before class, then after class several of us ladies go out to eat and then we go visiting. I had a hair appointment at 2 p.m. so I couldn't go visiting, but I was gone from little Bentley. When I did come home, I asked him if he wanted to go to the church building with me. He gets so excited when he hears the word "go." We went to the building and I finished up printing my cards and mailing them. Of course, I also made time to play a little ball with Bentley. Later, in the evening I was sitting with my husband, Les, watching an episode of Gunsmoke. My feet were so hot and tired I pulled my shoes and socks off. Now, the next thing is probably really disgusting to some people. However, it feels great to me. Bentley likes to lick my feet! It is just like a massage. It's not like they are filthy and sweaty. And if you are wondering about that old saying of "a dog's tongue is cleaner than a human's," (not that I would let a human lick my feet. LOL ) go to http://abcnews.go.com/2020/Health/story?id=1213870 By the way, I don't like for Bentley to lick me in the mouth like some people do! Yuck! Here is a picture of Bentley giving his special treatment to my feet.

What about little Squawky? I usually come home at lunchtime and take his cover off of his cage. I didn't make it home until much later today so Squawky was in the dark most of the day. He doesn't really mind because he has toys in his cage to play with. I want to show you a picture of Squawky drinking Pepsi. Yes, I know birds are not suppose to have carbonated drinks because they can't burp. Les did not know that and began giving him the Pepsi he wanted and he still gives him a minute amount. See the Meow Mix bag in the picture? That is full of nut hulls. Squawky will play for a long, long time in that bag. He just loves his bag! Also, I want you to check out the video. Squawky is rubbing his beak on Les' nose. That is what the sun conure does to show that this is his partner and everyone better leave his partner alone. He only does that when I am close by and he always does that when I tell him good night. We don't know if Squawky is male or female. The sun conure male is not marked any different than the female. The only way to tell is to send a feather off to be tested. We don't care what sex "he" is so we have not bothered with trying to find out. You probably say "he" is female since "he" has chosen Les as his bonding partner. But, do you really think that conures can tell a human's sex? I don't think so.

Bentley Protects His Mama

Sometimes I take Bentley to my job at the church.  I keep a ball in my desk and he loves to play the "fetch game" with the ball.  I think he would play it all day.  I throw the ball up in the air so that it bounces really high when it comes down.  He loves to jump up into the air to catch it.  He has not perfected this yet.  I had to run an errand and then come back to the building.  James, Tony, and Jeanette were putting timers on the light switches.  Bentley is not use to anyone being in his "home away from home."  He let Jeanette pet him, but he wouldn't do anything but bark and growl at James and Tony.  He is such a good little guard dog.  I love him dearly. Here is a video of Bentley playing ball. Notice he doesn't actually bring the ball back and drop it. He wants you to try to take it away from him. That is my son, Alex, in the video.
